This is also the time to make sure that there is a health officer at camp and also to see if \u00a0there is a full-time camp nurse who is readily available. \u00a0Confirm that all staff receive<a href=\"http:\/\/www.allergyhome.org\/camps\/\" target=\"_blank\"> food allergy management training each year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h1>BEFORE A CAMPER WITH FOOD ALLERGIES STARTS CAMP:<\/h1>\n<p>Try to meet with the camp director, camp nurse and those responsible for food preparation prior to the first day of camp.<\/p>\n<h1>Get all the necessary medication and medical documentation into the camp before the first day.<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>Discuss having an individual health care plan completed by your camp nurse before the start of the camp session.<\/li>\n<li>Provide an up-to-date Food Allergy Emergency Care Plan.<\/li>\n<li>Submit at least two epinephrine auto-injectors (confirm that the staff has been trained to administer the specific type).<\/li>\n<li>Consider sharing additional food allergy awareness resources with your camp.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>For more information on food allergy management for the camper with food allergies see:<\/h1>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/community.kidswithfoodallergies.org\/blog\/summer_camp_guide_for_food_allergies\" target=\"_blank\">Summer Camp Guide for Food Allergies\/Summer Camp and Food Allergies<\/a>: Kids With Food Allergies Foundation Blog Post, June 2012.
