It can start with mild symptoms and quickly progress. Epinephrine is a medication that is the 1st line treatment of choice for anaphylaxis. It works quickly but in many cases is temporary. Always have the auto-injectors and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allergyhome.org\/handbook\/table-of-contents\/recognize-and-treat-allergic-reactions\/being-prepared\/\">food allergy emergency care plan<\/a> available. Know <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allergyhome.org\/handbook\/table-of-contents\/recognize-and-treat-allergic-reactions\/being-prepared\/\">how and when to use the auto-injector<\/a>. Being prepared for allergic reactions is absolutely needed and can be life saving. If a doctor prescribed an auto-injector then all care givers should know how and when to give it and it must be available at all times and in all situations.
